MODIFICATIONS

Front Suspension:

I completely removed the stock suspension and replaced it with a Bartworks double A-arm setup.  This kit is sold at HP Motorsports and is used on Paul Brown’s SCCA World Challenge Saleen SR and SN-95 car.  The kit can be installed easily in a day and requires no special tools. Included with the kit are Koni SA (coilovers…I chose 600# springs) but you will need to have SN-95 hubs/attaching nuts on-hand to complete the installation.  If you are interested in more information, visit the HP Motorsports  website or call them at  (402) 731-7301.

Note 1: The only difficulty I had is when I installed the rod ends to the Bartworks spindle.  I had to install the bolt upside down and then grind off about 1/3rd of the bolt head as they did not clear the 16 inch REAL Racing wheels I will be running.

Rear Suspension:

The base of the rear suspension consists of a Ford 8.8 with a Trac-Lok (extra clutches) and 3.73 gears.  The car currently has AVO SA shocks, HP Megabite Jr lower control arms and Eibach 700# springs.  However, it will be going into HP soon for conversion to Koni SA coilovers with 300# springs and heim jointed tubular control arms.  A heim jointed third link is attached to a bracket bolted to the top of the pumpkin and to a point on the roll cage directly behind where the shifter will be located.  Completing the rear suspension is an HPM Panhard bar (aluminum for now).  A sway bar will be added when the car is at HPM and will be a race version and not a ‘stock type’ mounted under the control arms.  Adjustability was also the theme in selecting these parts.    

Brake System:

Braking will be handled with PBR Cobra front and Ford SN-95 rear calipers riding on 13 inch front and 11.65 inch rear rotors.  The car has a cockpit mounted brake bias adjuster and dual brake pressure gauges. 

Note 1: When using the PBR Cobra calipers and 13 inch rotors with 16 inch REAL Racing wheels, you will be REQUIRED to grind a significant amount of material from the back of the calipers to clear the wheels.

Rear caliper mounting brackets obtained from North Cobras allowed me to use my existing stock length (FOX) 5-lug Moser axles with SN-95 calipers and the larger 11.65 inch rotors.  These brackets are of high quality and can be purchased alone or along with a complete brake assembly.  Please visit North Cobras website for more information or call them at (816) 436-1610.
