MY CURRENT CP PROJECT
My new project is a 1985 Mustang GT I bought from Bob Fester in Tulsa OK. I first saw the car at Rocky Entriken's MirrorKhana event in Salina KS in 1999. The car was for sale at the time but I wasn't prepared to give up the '90 GT I was currently running. After going to my first SCCA National Solo2 event, I changed my mind and contacted Bob. Much to my surprise the car was still available and a deal was struck.....BUT....there were 'issues'.
Bob was keeping the motor......transmission ......rearend .......brakes....... fuel cell ......fuel pump......etc....etc...etc. What I bought was the body, cage and gauges. Bob put a 4-cyl suspension under the car to get it on a trailer and Marco Rossetti and I headed south to meet him. I took possession of my new toy on a lonely highway in Kansas. The car has been neglected for much of the last year and a half until I sold my 90 GT in February 2001. Shortly thereafter, I contacted Bob again to see if he had any of the old parts from the car 'lounging in his garage'. Again to my surprise........he did.
Off to Tulsa I went!!! I returned with a fuel cell, fuel pump, miscellaneous suspension pieces, an electric fan for the radiator and a big prize, Bob's hand crafted fuel cell cover. The quest was on!!! I was determined to do something with my new 'racecar'!!!
Recently, it has received major brake and suspension upgrades (see pictures). A motor has been secured along with a T-5 trans and assorted other parts either scavenged prior to the sale of my 90 GT or obtained from HP Motorsports or on EBAY (brake calipers were bought there CHEAP!!!).
